Best day of my life: 1/13/2008, the day my relationship with God began to be more than a religion.
2nd Best day of my life: 9/10/2009, the day I married my best friend and began my life as a married woman, seeking God with my husband and doing life together for His glory.
3rd Best day of my life: 10/19/2011, the day our son was born. A glorious gift from God, His child, our son, that we have been given the responsibility to care for and raise.
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57.
This verse says it all. Our victory is through Christ our Lord. He gave His life to save ours. Our lives are not worthy of saving but God loves us so much He gave his only Son. Praise God!!
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
This is my life verse. It is my goal.
To know and remember that I am holy and dearly loved by our God.
To be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient. To be forgiving of others as God has forgiven me.
To love others as God loves me.
This is what I want. This is what I strive for. I am by no means close, but I do my best.
The thing is though, that even when I often miss the mark,
often forget how much I am loved by God,
often miss opportunities to show compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience,
often fail to forgive and fail to love as God loves,
He still loves me.
Nothing I can do can sever the relationship I have with God. I am saved by grace, and grace alone, nothing I did, nothing I can do, will change His love for me.
And THAT, is amazing.
“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
These are the verses John and I try to live by. It isn’t always easy to love and respect unconditionally but we are called to do it. God knew it would be hard, and not second nature, for women to respect their husbands unconditionally, and that is why He instructed us to do so. God also knew it would be hard, and not second nature, for men to love their wives unconditionally, and that is why He instructed them to do so. I am so blessed to have a husband who is willing to work at this with me. We fail sometimes, to treat each other the way God calls us to, but together we are learning and each day we learn more about each other and how to do better. God has blessed me with a man who is more than I could have ever imagined. Seeking God alongside my husband is the most wonderful journey. Every day I wake up and thank God for the blessings He has given me. I thank Him for allowing me to have John in my life for this time. I thank Him for another day on this Earth. I thank Him for another chance to serve Him.
